FAQs About Our 1,500-Hour Barbering Program

How long does it take to complete the 1,500-hour barbering program?

You could complete the 1,500-hour advanced barbering course in as little as 50 weeks with a full-time schedule. Part-time students at our Modesto location, attending 20 hours per week, may finish in as little as 75 weeks. This extended program includes an optional additional training beyond the state-required 1,000 hours to help you learn advanced skills. This 4-week advanced course requires an additional kit. Is financial aid available for this program?

Yes, financial aid is available to those who qualify. Don’t let the cost of your education hold you back from pursuing your dreams of becoming a barber. We strongly recommend all prospective barbering students fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) to start the financial aid process. When submitting your FAFSA, include the school code #007187. Adrian’s Beauty College of Tracy is a branch of North Adrian’s College of Beauty and uses the same code for financial aid purposes. Talk to our financial aid team about your options, including federal grants and loans.

What is the difference between the 1,000 and 1,500-hour barbering programs?

While the state requires only 1,000 clock hours to meet licensure requirements, the 1,500-hour program includes additional opportunities for hands-on training in the student salon under the supervision of experienced educators. It also includes an optional four-week advanced skills module (that requires an additional kit) to help you further build and refine barbering skills. If you want extra practice and skills before entering the workforce, the 1,500-hour program may be a better fit.

What's included in the student kit?

Our kits are designed to give you everything you need to start exploring a career as a barber. Students can buy the kit and books through Adrian’s College or purchase them on their own.

A kit list is provided before enrollment. Students must have all the items, or they cannot start class. Before beginning class, students are asked to submit a checklist to confirm they have all necessary kit items and books.

How to Enroll in Our Barbering Program

Interested in enrolling in our 1,500-hour barbering program? Here’s how to get started:

Schedule a tour. Choose your preferred campus location and schedule a time for a tour. Our team can answer your questions during the tour, show you our facilities, and tell you more about our programs. All students must complete a personal interview with our team before enrollment.
Complete an application and return it to our admissions team.
Submit your paperwork. Along with your application, you must submit proof of secondary education (such as a high school diploma) and proof of ID (such as a driver’s license or other state-issued ID).
