FAQs About Our 1000-Hour Barbering Program

How long does it take to complete the 1,000-hour barbering program?

You can complete the 1,000-hour barbering program in as little as 34 weeks. The course length will depend on your schedule, attendance, and commitment to the program. While this program meets the state’s minimum licensing requirements, students also have the option to enroll in an additional 4-week advanced barbering course as part of the 1,500 hour barbering program to further enhance their skills and industry readiness. This optional course requires an additional kit. Contact the admissions team for a more accurate completion date and details on the advanced course.

Is financial aid available for this program?

Yes, financial aid is available to those who qualify. Don’t let the cost of your education hold you back from pursuing your dreams of becoming a barber. We strongly recommend all prospective barbering students fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) to start the financial aid process. When submitting your FAFSA, include the school code #007187. Adrian’s Beauty College of Tracy is a branch of North Adrian’s College of Beauty and uses the same code for financial aid purposes. Talk to our financial aid team about your options, including federal grants and loans.

What training system does the barbering program use?

We follow the Milady training system at Adrian’s College. This is a well-known beauty education program with a long, proven track record of success. Milady training materials are part of your student kit, which you can purchase through Adrian’s College or independently.

What's the difference between the 1,000-hour and 1,500-house barbering program?

The 1,000-hour barbering program provides a solid foundation in men’s haircutting, styling, and grooming and meets the state’s requirements for licensure. The 1,500-hour program includes that same training but also offers an optional four-week advanced skills module (additional kit required). If you want extra client experience before starting your barber career, the 1,500-hour program may be the right option for you. If you are eager to begin your career as quickly as possible, the 1,000-hour program may be a better fit.

What's the difference between cosmetology and barbering training?

Cosmetology training focuses on a wide range of beauty services, including hairstyling, skincare, nail care, and makeup application. Barbering, on the other hand, emphasizes precision haircutting, shaving, and facial hair grooming. Both programs include training in foundational hair skills, but barbering offers a specialized focus on men’s grooming needs.

What's included in the student kit?

Our kits are designed to give you everything you need to start exploring a career as a barber. Students can buy the kit and books through Adrian’s College or purchase them on their own.

A kit list is provided before enrollment. Students must have all the items, or they cannot start class. Before beginning class, students are asked to submit a checklist to confirm they have all necessary kit items and books.

See What Our Students Have To Say

I'm a student here and I love it! I've tried other schools and they weren't as thorough. Most only focused on passing board. Adrian's not only focuses on that you can pass state board testing, but they also make sure you have the skills to succeed in the salon and beauty industry!
